Accommodation
Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku
The Sunroute Plaza hotel is a sleek, modern hotel located slap-bang in the centre of Tokyo in the buzzing Shinjuku district. This is an utterly dependable 4-star hotel, offering great value if location, a bit of style, location, service, location & facilities are all in consideration.
Overview
Located on the south side of Shinjuku Station, the 600-room Sunroute Plaza is ideally located as a base for exploring Tokyo. Not only are there endless shopping, dining, drinking and entertainment options within a few minutes' walk of your front door, but you are just a few minutes' walk from Shinjuku Station – the world's busiest! – and links to all Tokyo's districts and beyond.
The hotel was opened in 2007 and has its own restaurant and bar, as well as a guest lounge with complimentary hot drinks. There is a spacious lobby area, and each sound-proofed guest room is conventionally comfortable, with a fridge and plenty of television channels, including English options. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Tokyo, after all – but are actually generous when compared against many in Tokyo, which follows through to the en suite bathrooms which are far better then the usual ‘boxes’ found in mid-range Tokyo hotels. The complimentary Wi-Fi game is strong across the entire hotel, public spaces and guest rooms.
There is an Italian bistro restaurant on-site, but with Shinjuku on your doorstep you’d be foolish to stay in to eat dinner. The buffet breakfasts are tasty and hearty. They have an on-site spa area, though they charge an extra fee for its use. You’ll be far too busy exploring Tokyo, we suspect.
Location
A three-minute walk from the South Exit of JR Shinjuku Station. We use the Sunroute Plaza Hotel very frequently, it is probably our mainstay hotel in Tokyo, and invariably all our guests appreciate the comfort levels, the friendly service and having the bright lights of Shinjuku on your doorstep.
