Accommodation
Hyatt Centric Kanazawa
The brand new Centric Hotel is the best hotel in Kanazawa…designed exactly to our taste.
Overview
The décor reflects the artistic contributions and history of the Kanazawa region - it is worth asking the staff about the what you can see and touch around you, as it makes the experience worthwhile and adds an extra layer to any stay. Both the amenities and the guest rooms are amazing and their rooftop terrace is a pleasant place for a sundowning drink, after a hard days’ sightseeing. Location? Perfect for a short stay, as it's right in front of Kanazawa station.
You would describe the Centric, without hesitation, as a very fashionable and chic luxury hotel. It is jam packed full of spectacular art pieces and, notwithstanding the generic ‘high-rise’ architecture of all new luxury hotels in Japan, you can comfortably consider this a ‘design hotel’ i.e. it is a hotel notable for its architecture, the interior design and the furnishings.
The Centric features a restaurant, fitness centre, 24-hour front desk, room service, a great rooftop bar and garden. However, for many the highlight of any stay is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I don’t know what they have been doing in terms of recruitment and training, but it appears this is what everyone we’ve had stay here wants to comment on. Evidently, they go above and beyond.
The menu at FIVE – the main restaurant, where breakfast is also served – has a globally-inspired menu, though does also feature local ingredients from the Hokuriku region. The made-to-order breakfast selection includes omelettes, eggs benedict, waffles, and other dishes arranged with Kanazawa and Ishikawa flair. The Roof Terrace Bar has stunning views of Kanazawa.
Location
Location is great - next to the station. As it happens, Kanazawa Station was selected as one of the 14 most beautiful stations in the world - the glass "Motenashi Dome" at the East Exit shields the station from rain and snow and represents the spirit of hospitality, almost as if it is holding an umbrella open for all the visitors in this rainy city of Japan.
