However long you have to explore the many delights of Kanazawa, basing yourself in a centrally located hotel – away from the station, instead near the main attractions – is the key to success. And this is why, in 2019, they built the affordable, stylish and functional Intergate Hotel. It has already established itself as our staple for those on keeping an eye on the budget (many of the other hotels in this locale and more upmarket = very expensive), but want to make the most from their limited time in Kanazawa.

There are 166 guestrooms and whilst unremarkable in many respects, they are comfortable, clean and rather stylish. The colourful hotel motif, apparent from the moment you walk in to the small lobby, transcends all the way to the guest rooms –all pleasantly light and breezy. Of course, they all have private en suite bathrooms (small, but in a conventionally Japanese way) and the rooms have flatscreen TVs and a strong Wi-Fi game. 

The daily breakfast is served in the main restaurant, again a pleasant space, and the buffet offers plenty of both Western and Japanese options – perfect to set you up for the day’s sightseeing.

Location

The hotel is exactly where you want to be – walking distance to the castle, the markets, Kenrokuen Gardens, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art…etc. The downtown district is surrounding, though the hotel is off the main street, so there are not many cars passing on the street in front, so it’s quiet. Restaurants surround.
