Accommodation
Shibuya Stream Hotel
Right in the very heart of Tokyo’s most fashionable entertainment district (and in the same building as Google Japan’s HQ), is the Shibuya Stream Hotel. We love it…but then again we do (wrongly) consider ourselves to be a quite hip and therefore this ‘ever-so-chic suits’ us perfectly.
Overview
The Stream is a hotel aimed at creative professionals and boasts the aesthetics to match - this means contemporary colours, patterned textiles and upholstery, clean modernist lines, functional desks and some rooms with lounge spaces, and wardrobes that can handle a fashionista’s costume changes. It also means a lobby lounge that’s a warm and inviting place to hang out, and ‘Torrent’, the restaurant and bar just off the lobby lounge, serves modern Japanese cuisine with a French fine-dining influence.
A cool hotel, in the best possible location We’ll let the photo’s do the talking (see next page). Inside the hotel is a bar, lobby lounge, great restaurant (‘Torrent’) and comfortable rooms. The lobby is on the 4th floor (shops and restaurants on floors 1-3) and then the rooms are on floors 9-14. The buffet breakfasts are wonderful.
There are Single Rooms (20sqm), in which then bathroom has a shower stall with no bathtub.
Then there are Double Rooms with 160cm wide queen beds in 25sqm of space. The STREAM Deluxe Double rooms are a massive step up, equipped with 200cm wide Sealy beds in 50sqm of space.
