The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Sanjo

Overview
Guest rooms are Western-style, quite generously sized, modern and comfortable, decorated in neutral tones with local artwork on the walls. Bathrooms are spacious and tiled, with most offering a separate shower area and bath - a rarity in Japan. All rooms also feature free Wi-Fi internet and there is a coin laundry and massage service should you have need of either!
Foodies are in luck as the hotel’s main restaurant – ‘Monsieur Itoh’ - is well known for its Western dishes created with local Japanese ingredients and is overseen by IKA Culinary Olympic rewarded chef …. Monsieur Itoh! Tasting menus are available, alongside more simple options such as drinks and nibbles at the elegant bar. The hotel’s more informal Frenchstyle bakery offers fresh bread and pastries if a quick snack is what you fancy. Round off your evening with a couple of cocktails at the atmospheric hotel bar which is open until late.
It’s not quite a 5***** luxury hotel, so don’t expect a gym or spa, but if you’re just looking for a comfortable room, stylish surroundings and a couldn’t-be-bettered location, this hotel hits all the right buttons.
Location
This is a great base for a very comfortable and convenient stay in Kyoto. The hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from both City Hall (Shiyakusho) Station and Sanjo Station, which in turn is about 15 mins by taxi from the main JR Kyoto Station. You are right in the heart of Kyoto’s dining, entertainment and shopping district, within easy
walking distance of Honnoji Temple and Gion Corner. Nijo Castle and Kyoto Imperial Palace are within walking distance of the hotel.
